Town Playground Is Closed

Update – as of March 25th at 4:00 p.m., the playground is closed until further notice. Please stay home and stay healthy. If you go outside to get some exercise and fresh air, remember to distance yourself from others that do not live in your household. Wash your hands often.

 

Weld County has the fourth highest number of reported COVID-19 cases in the State. Our Town needs to do our part in keeping that number down. We realize it’s a difficult time for everyone, so rather than shut the playground down completely, we are instituting a limit of one family per day, Garden City families only. The family can use the park until 4:00 p.m., at which time the park will be shut down for cleaning. Call the Town Hall at 970-351-0041 to reserve the park or email abby@townofgardencity.com. If you email or leave a message on voice mail, be sure to give us your name, address and phone number so we can confirm your reservation. This is beginning today, March 25, 2020.

If you take a book from the Little Library, be sure to clean the book and your hands. Keep the book. We will restock the library in early May.

To our businesses: the Town will not issue orders to shut down any businesses. Town of Garden City Declares Public Health Disaster Emergency

The Town of Garden City issued an order declaring a Local Disaster Emergency in and for the Town of Garden City on March 18, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  This declaration follows the declarations released by the Governor of the State of Colorado on March 10, 2020 and the President of the United States on March 13, 2020.  The declaration allows the Town to be furnished aid and assistance through the state and federal governments.  The Disaster Emergency is declared for seven (7) days unless extended by the Board of Trustees.

The Town Hall will be closed to the public until further notice. Court on April 9, 2020 has been rescheduled to May 7, 2020. Please visit the court page for more information.

In response to the spread of COVID-19 and presumptive positive cases in Weld County, the Town of Garden City is closing the Town Hall to the public through March 30, 2020. Town employees are still working during regular business hours. We will make every effort to provide services without disruption. Court payments are still due. Vacancies on the Board of Trustees

There are two vacancies on the Town of Garden City Board of Trustees. To be appointed to a trustee position, you must be a resident of the Town of Garden City for at least the last twelve consecutive months, must be at least eighteen years of age and be a registered voter. The position of Trustee is part-time, and this is reflected in the compensation paid to those elected.

Board members are expected to attend two regular meetings, usually on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. In addition, there are occasional special meetings, which are normally of short duration.

If you are interested in being appointed as a Trustee, please send or bring a letter of interest to the Town Hall on or before April 1, 2020.

This is a part-time position, typically requiring approximately three hours a month at the Town Hall with some time before meetings to review materials before Board Meetings.

Board members are expected to attend two regular meetings, usually on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. In addition, there are occasional special meetings, which are normally of short duration. For each regular or special meeting attended, the Trustee pay is $150.00. Call for Nominations

The Town of Garden City will hold a regular Municipal Election on April 7, 2020 to fill the position of three Trustees for four-year terms, two Trustees for two-year terms, and the Mayor for a two-year term. Nomination petitions may be picked up at the Town Hall 621 27th St Rd Garden City from Tuesday, January 07, 2020 through Monday, January 27, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Completed petitions must be turned in by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020.

PTSD Monument Unveiling Rescheduled to November 1, 2019 at Noon

The contractors building the block wall with the fundraising bricks have been doing an incredible job. Unfortunately, this type of work is new to them, and they didn’t realize it was going to be such a painstakingly slow process. It would have come in right under the wire if not for that crazy snow! Who knows what November 1st will bring in the way of weather, but the PTSD Monument will be a wonderful addition to Garden City regardless of the weather. We hope to see you there.

Community Garage Sale

September 21, 2019 is the date of this year’s Community Garage Sale. While individuals may start at different time, the official time is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free donuts (while they last) and coffee at the Town Hall, 621 27th Street Rd. There will be families set up at the Town Hall and around Town. As of Wednesday, we know the following addresses will have sales:
