New Online Payment Option

You can now pay for all services and citations for Garden City online. We have started using Payport for online transactions. Payport is a service offered through the State of Colorado. There is a service charge to use Payport, but it is signifantly less than the online service we previously used for citations. When you are checking out, you will enter the amount you are paying. On the checkout screen, once you choose either credit/debit card or electronic check, the service charge will appear. For cards, it’s approximately 3%. For electronic checks it’s a flat $1.00 fee, so if you have your checking account information, this is typically a less expensive method of payment.

  • For citations: the amount due is shown on the citation. If there is no amount, that means you must appear in court. Please call 970-351-0041 if you have questions about that. Your court/citation receipt will be emailed to the address you enter when you are checking out.
  • For security guard licenses: the fee is $25 for a new license or rewewal. We may be able to handle a renewal remotely if we have your photo on file. New licenses will need to come to the Town Hall. Security guard forms can be found here (Solicitud para seguridad privada empleo/agente).
  • Dog licenses: Dog licenses are $5 for a spayed/neutered pet or $10 if not. If you want to conduct this transaction remotely, you will need to email a copy of the dog’s current rabies documentation to stephen@townofgardencity.com. Once we receive payment and the rabies certificate, we will mail your receipt and tag to you.
  • Building Permits: The Building Permit application is here. Once you send that in to stephen@townofgardencity.com, he’ll email or call to tell you how much the permit will cost and what the permit number is. Some permits will require a plan review by the building inspector, and plans will need to be delivered to the Town Hall.
  • Business License: Businesses receive an invoice for their license at the beginning of the year. The invoice number is your business license number.

Please call us if you have any questions about online payments. 970-351-0041

Back to School – Backpacks

There’s a lot of uncertainty around school right now, but whether the kids are going to classes in person or working from home, they’ll need supplies. Garden City is continuing our tradition of providing backpacks with school supplies to our children. Please call the Town Hall or email bonnie@townofgardencity.com to reserve a backpack if you or your kids live in Garden City.

Construction on 8th Avenue

Starting on July 20, 2020, work will begin on a new crosswalk on the south side of the 8th Avenue and 27th Street Road intersection. The construction company estimates the project should take about a week to complete. There will be traffic control. Please take care during construction and after.

Landscape Vouchers and Water Rebates

We still have landscape vouchers available at the Town Hall. We purchased 20 $100 gift certificates in early March and still have several available. We will not be purchasing more if we run out, so be sure to get your application in soon. Happy Life Gardens is open for business, and our guess is that it’s safe to plant. Find the application here.

Also, we’ve all worked so hard to keep Garden City green, let’s not stop now. The water rebate program is still available for this year. Be sure to get your application in before the end of May.

Census and our Zip Code

It is time for Census 2020, as if we had nothing else to think about! It’s important that we respond, especially now. However, the Census has sent their mailings to Garden City residents with the city listed as Greeley. It takes a few extra steps to change your response to Garden City, but it can be done.

Because of that and many other reasons, we are attempting to get our own zip code for Garden City. If this goes through, you’ll have to take time to change your address in many places, but the results will be worth it. You can be sure that when you purchase something out of town for delivery at home, including large purchases such as appliances and vehicles, you will be paying our lower sales tax rate and the sales tax will come to our town, not Greeley. We will send out a notice if our request is successful.

Landscape Vouchers Available

2020 Landscape Vouchers are available. You can mail the attached form or leave it in our mailbox, and we’ll mail the voucher to you. Be sure to include a phone number in case we have questions. The voucher is available to both residents and businesses. If you are unable to print at home, give us a call and we’ll mail one to you. 970-351-0041.

Town Playground Is Closed

Update – as of March 25th at 4:00 p.m., the playground is closed until further notice. Please stay home and stay healthy. If you go outside to get some exercise and fresh air, remember to distance yourself from others that do not live in your household. Wash your hands often.

Weld County has the fourth highest number of reported COVID-19 cases in the State. Our Town needs to do our part in keeping that number down. We realize it’s a difficult time for everyone, so rather than shut the playground down completely, we are instituting a limit of one family per day, Garden City families only. The family can use the park until 4:00 p.m., at which time the park will be shut down for cleaning. Call the Town Hall at 970-351-0041 to reserve the park or email abby@townofgardencity.com. If you email or leave a message on voice mail, be sure to give us your name, address and phone number so we can confirm your reservation. This is beginning today, March 25, 2020.

If you take a book from the Little Library, be sure to clean the book and your hands. Keep the book. We will restock the library in early May.
